First day of school
There are moments in a kid's life that feel bigger than the culture around them admits. The first day of school is one. There is no ritual for it. There is no Hallmark card that catches it. There is a photo on the front steps, a slightly weird breakfast, and a hug at the drop-off, and then it's over.
You wanted something small to hand them on the way in. Not a bribe. Not a plush toy. Something that says: I know this is a big day, and I am with you.
What we made
Madejustfor.me makes a personalized playable card for the specific kid it's for. You type a couple of sentences on the order form about who they are, what they are into right now, a signature. You pay nine dollars. A minute or two later, a link comes back.
The card carries a whole small game about the specific things they love. Their name is in it, their interests are in it, and there's a note from you at the bottom.
You send them off with the link on the way in. They play it after school, when the day is behind them and they want to be small again.
When this is the right thing
This is the right thing for the first day of kindergarten. It's the right thing for the first day of a new school in a new town, which is basically their first day again. It's the right thing for the transitions that get called by grade number in retrospect. Sixth grade. Ninth grade. Whichever one turns out to be theirs. Any first day that is really a first day for that specific kid.
